SANI TOP CHALET

The Sani Top Chalet is the highest pub in Africa (2.874m). Started in 1958 as an overnight stop for the traders coming from Himeville/Underberg and surrounding areas to take their goods to Mokhotlong - which got its name from the "Bald Ibis", the national bird of Lesotho. By 1965 the "Highest Pub in Africa" was rebuilt in the same design as an alpine resort and is now named the "Sani Top Chalef'.Rooms in the main building sleep 4 guests and have each a basin. The rondavels offer 2 single beds.

All accommodations are very rustic and basic. Communal bathroom, to bring towels and soaps, torch. The restaurant offers continental and local cuisine (breakfast, lunch and dinner). Or self-catering in communal kitchen. Camping and backpacker facilities. The bar is well stocked and offers a cosy atmosphere. Electricity provided by generator, which switches off at 22:00. Candles and matches provided in each room. Signal for Cellular Telephones.
