The official meeting point of our tour is at the Ruacana Camp Site in Namibia.
We will saddle up and make our way north towards Foarado. We will spend our
first night en route in
a field camp, reaching Foarado (meaning hole) on
day two. This is a private
beach camp owned by the same person who owns the Desert Camp, Omauha. It is
private, secluded offering the most beautiful scenery and rock formations as
well as an ideal spot for fishing. Spending the next two nights here, we will
explore the surrounding area. Fishing opportunities will be available.
Day four sees us depart for
Benguela, further north up the South Atlantic Coast. We will spend a night at a
field camp before we reach our destination the following day.
Day
five we
will arrive at Baia Farta. We will spend the following two nights here, giving
us an opportunity to explore the surrounding areas. We will travel further along
the coast towards Porto Amboim, sleeping in a field camp en route. We make our
way on day eight
towards Luanda. We will spend three nights on our way to Luanda.
Day
eleven
will see us explore Luanda on a guided tour and visiting the war museum. We will
overnight at Cabela near the waterfall. On
day twelve we will move inland
through the rainforest. We will spend one night in a field camp.
Day
thirteen
we will travel to Huambo, where we will spend the next night. From Huambo we
will travel to Menongue, where we make another field camp on
day fourteen.
Traveling towards
Namibia, we will cross the border at Katwipwe / Nkurenkri / Rundu where each
party will go their separate way.
Please note that we allow for an extra day, as delays may be inevitable, either
because of unforeseen road or vehicle conditions or if we reach a spot where the
group feels they would like to spend an extra day. |

SOUTH SIGHTSEEING
TOUR

Explore the South of Angola in a 4x4. Either test your skills
by driving self or join one of skilled drivers in a luxury 4x4. This will be an
experience of a lifetime.

We will meet the different parties at Ruacana campsite, which
will be the official meeting point for the tour. This will be our overnight spot
before we enter Angola. Crossing the border into Angola at Ruacana. Taking the
route via Chitado on our way to Cahama, we will spend our
second night at a field camp on this
route.
Day three, we will
take the main road to Lubango, which will also be our next overnight stop. From
Lubango we take the route via Namibe to Foarado, which will be our destination
for the next two days. Foarado (meaning hole) 120km north of Namibe. This is a
private beach camp owned by the same person who owns the Desert Camp, Omauha. It
is private, secluded offering the most beautiful scenery and rock formations as
well as an ideal spot for fishing. Spending the next two nights here, we will
explore the surrounding area. Fishing opportunities will be available.
Day six,
leaving the beauty of Foarado we travel back via Namibe to Flamingo Camp,
situated on the beach 40km south of the town of Namibe. While they are still
considered the unequalled fishing in the area to be their greatest asset, the
beautiful, wild and sparsely populated beaches and countryside provide the
perfect setting for any holiday. Among other activities, excursions and
services, they also offer quad-bike trails and logistical and guiding services
to 4 x 4 overlanders. This will be our overnight spot for the next two nights.
Departing from Flamingo Camp on
day eight via Tomwa to Foz Du Cunene,
where we will stay for two nights. The Cunene is a large perennial river that
forms the boundary between south-western Angola and Namibia, where the river
bisects the desert before entering the sea. Here one will experience the
contrasts of sand dunes, rocky plains, thick river vegetation, salt marshes and
the sea. It is bordered by lush vegetation, which forms striking contrasts with
the surrounding desert. The settlement of Foz do Cunene is situated on the banks
of the river 6 km from the sea and is within the vast Iona National Park.
Fishing opportunities will be available.
Travelling from Foz Du Cunene via Espinheira to the Desert Camp, Omauha, 150km
south from the town Namibe. This small lodge with about 5000 hectares of land is
located in a sub-desert region with beautiful views of landscapes, between
enormous granite rocks, from which Omauha owes its name, meaning in the local
dialect “Stone”. The local fauna and lower are very rich in small antelopes,
springbok, ostriches, leopards (which can be heard at night from the campsite!),
etc. This extraordinary campsite provides you with the opportunity to enjoy the
outdoors of camping or enjoy the comfortable bungalows with rooms made out of
granite rock caves. We will have two days to explore.
Departing from Omauha on
day
eleven, we will be travelling via Namibe towards Lubango. On this route
we will cross the Leba Pass with its waterfall and cantilevered hairpin bends
where one ascends from the coastal plain to an altitude of over 6 000 feet in
just a few kilometres. Exploring and visiting the city of Lubango, we will also
overnight in this area.
Leaving Lubango we will be travelling southwards via Cahama on
route to Oshikango. We will be cross the border post at Oshikango on
day twelve.

FISHING TOUR

A 4x4 Safari with a twist. The best salt
water fishing experience off the African coast. Join us on one of our fishing
tours to the South Coast of Angola.
The official meeting point for the tour is
in Ruacana. Here we will cross the border into Angola. Our
first night we will make a field camp
en-route to Flamingo Camp. Flamingo Camp/Lodge is situated on the beach 40km
south of the town of Namibe. Fishing is considered to be their greatest asset,
but the beautiful, wild and sparsely populated beaches and countryside provide
the perfect setting for any holiday. Among other activities, excursions and
services, they also offer quad-bike trails and logistical and guiding services
to 4 x 4 overlanders. This will be our overnight spot for the next
three nights. Expect to catch Cob,
Garrick, Spotted Grunter, Elf (Shad) and a variety of sharks.
We will leave for Foz du Cunene on day
five, where we will stay for three nights. The Cunene is a large
perennial river that forms the boundary between southwestern Angola and Namibia,
where the river bisects the desert before entering the sea. Here one will
experience the contrasts of sand dunes, rocky plains, thick riverine vegetation,
salt marshes and the sea. It is bordered by lush vegetation, which forms
striking contrasts with the surrounding desert. The settlement of Foz do Cunene
is situated on the banks of the river 6 km from the sea and is within the vast
Iona National Park. Offers excellent fishing opportunities.
Day eight
will see us head back to Flamingo camp for one night. On
day nine, we will depart for Foarado
(meaning hole) 120km north of Namibe. This is a private beach camp owned by a
local Portuguese resident. It is private, secluded offering the most beautiful
scenery and rock formations as well as an ideal spot for fishing. This private
beach which is well known for its excellent fishing and diving opportunities,
will be our overnight spot for the next three days.
On
day
twelve we will be traveling back towards the border via Lubango where
we will cross the Leba Pass with its waterfall and cantilevered hairpin bends
where one ascends from the coastal plain to an altitude of over 6 000 feet in
just a few kilometers. Our overnight spot will be close to the border at a field
camp.
Travelling towards Namibia, we will cross
the border at Ruacana or Oshacango where each party will go their separate way.
