Maliba River Lodge

Maliba River Lodge is based within the Ts'ehlanyane National Park, and offers self catering retreats set in a pristine wilderness valley deep in the North of Lesotho's breathtaking Maluti/Drakensberg Mountains. Maliba River Lodge is situated at the junction of two rivers and offers modern, serviced self catering accommodation which is perfect for families, groups of friends or even couples that want an affordable getaway where they can relax. Over 5600 hectares of rugged wilderness mountain terrain is protected within this park, which includes one of the very few remaining indigenous old growth woodlands in Lesotho and a wide variety of flora and fauna which has historical significance to the Basotho people. Maliba is situated in Northern Lesotho and only 1 hour south from the popular Freestate town of Clarens.

Guests can be accommodated in one of four private thatched river lodges. Each River lodge is self contained with modern kitchen with separate lounge and dining areas as well as open wooden deck with river views. There are 4 bedrooms with the master bedroom being on-suite. The remaining carpeted bedrooms are upstairs. Under-floor heating and electric blankets create a comfortable living environment for guests during the cooler months.

Very close to the arts and craft town of Clarens and the dramatic scenery within Golden Gate national park an easy 5 hour drive from central Johanesburg. An ideal stopover en route between Johannesburg and Durban, or you can include a Lesotho mountain adventure on your trip down to Cape town with our spectacular pristine mountain environment contrasting with South Africa world renowned coastline and relatively flat interior.

The river lodges are ideal for 4x4 enthusiasts and special interest groups e.g. birdwatching, trekking, botanical, adventure, school excursions or as a corporate retreat where the Maliba main lodge restaurant can be set up as a conference facility.
