Windhoek Hosea Kutako International Airport (HKIA) is the most important airport in Namibia and is rather far from Windhoek, 42 kilometers east of the capital. The airport is used almost only for international flights. Domestic flights arrive or depart from the smaller Eros Airport that is much closer to Windhoek.
The airport is along the road from Windhoek to Gobabis (B6) which is also named the Trans-Kalahariweg. Buses leave the departures hall to the combined taxi and bus station on Independence Avenue in the center of Windhoek.
HKIA connects weekly non-stop flights to Frankfurt, Munich and London-Gatwick, and daily connections to regional hubs such as Johannesburg and Cape Town. HKIA also services routes to Luanda, Maun and Victoria Falls.
There are no hotels at the airport and not a lot of shops, restaurants or bars offered. There is however a selection of accommodation establishments within the bigger vicinity such as lodges and guest farms.
