Daan Viljoen Lodge & Game Reserve is located 22 kilometres west from Windhoek, and situated amongst the rolling hills of the Khomas Hochland, a sanctuary to a relatively large population of game species typical of Namibia's highlands. Because of its close proximity to Windhoek and its tranquil setting, Daan Viljoen Lodge is a popular overnight stop for visitors who wish to avoid the hustle and bustle of the Namibian capital.
Independently located around the Daan Viljoen dam, visitors can now experience all the luxury of a modern day breakaway, in unique, contemporary African chalets. Each one of the 19 chalets are fully equipped with air-conditioned rooms, satellite TV’s and mesmerizing patio views, ensuring the visitor an exclusive and luxurious atmosphere.
12 campsites are located on a grass terrace serviced by two ablution blocks with 8 showers each and washbasins and one ablution block with four toilets each and hand basins. Maximum 8 people per camp site. All camp sites facilities include a BBQ island with open fire pit and braai grid and washbasin, a campsite light and power-point.
Activities are self-guided and at no additional cost. The 4,000 ha Daan Viljoen Game Reserve boast with over 200 bird species and plus a decent concentration of plains game that include giraffe, eland, oryx, blue wildebeest, kudu, hartebeest, warthogs, mountain zebra, baboons, steenbok and klipspringer to name a few. Guest can explore the reserve by means of two walking trails and or a 4x4 track or merely enjoying the game frequenting the Augeigas Dam in front of the chalets.
The Rooibos Trail – of 9 km takes hikers past the Augeigas Dam and snakes op and down the rocky hills. The Wag-‘n-Bietjie Trail – of 1.5 km popular for birding near the Stengel Dam Both. The 4x4 track of 6.5 km – one way track entering from the Entrance Gate ending near the Reception. It is advisable that guest only attempt this with high clearance vehicles and in rain season in 4x4 track vehicles.
