Damaraland Camps & Lodges

Damaraland is a contrasting wonderland. It is a barren mountainous desert region which offers very little in the way of water, vegetation or animals.

It has a tame side, where you travel on proclaimed roads with a fairly good surface to visit places of interest and a variety of accommodation options. It also has a wild side, where you travel on rough gravel and rocky tracks, and through sandy and swampy riverbeds, to visit places of interest. Here the chances of encountering other tourists are slim and you have limited accommodation options. A visit to this area, especially the wild side, should not be undertaken lightly. You could end up hundreds of kilometers from help, and days from a hospital if something goes wrong

The Damaraland area is situated in the central north-western region of Namibia and comprises an area of approximately 50 000 km². Its boundaries are the Hoanib River and the Ombondo River to the north; the eastern boundary is more-or-less a line from Hobatere to Fransfontein and through the Erongo Mountains to Usakos; the southern boundary is the B2 highway between Usakos and Swakopmund; and Dorob National Park to the west. (Text by Johan Snyman)

Damaraland has an extensive accommodation portfolio of bush camps, lodges & campsites, outdoor activities, self-drive tours & guided safaris.
