Lesotho, a high-altitude, landlocked kingdom encircled by South Africa, is crisscrossed by a network of rivers and mountain ranges including the 3,482 metres high peak of Thabana Ntlenyana. Lesotho is also known as "The little Switzerland" of Africa, as two-thirds of its land area is engulfed by spectacular mountain ranges.

During the winter months the magnificent Maluti and Drakensberg mountain ranges are capped with snow.
