Amid the heat, dust, and stunning landscapes of Damaraland lies a sanctuary – Mowani Mountain Camp. Nestled among massive ochre boulders, the camp seamlessly blends into the landscape, making it one with the ancient history of this prehistoric land. Each soft curve and rugged edge frames the scenery in a unique way, offering a fresh perspective every time.
Lodge facilities include a swimming pool skillfully carved out of local boulders, blending perfectly with the natural surroundings and offering a complementary view. There is also a lounge and dining room with sweeping views, as well as an outdoor boma area for relaxing and dining on special occasions and three-night stays, complete with a bar. Additionally, there is a viewpoint and sundowner spot offering 180 degrees of spectacular beauty.
The camp features 12 twin-bedded rooms, which can be converted into a king bed, with thatched roofs and En-suite facilities. The Superior View rooms face west, providing a panoramic distant view. The View rooms offer a northern view across the valley, while the Standard View rooms face east or northeast and offer a more limited view of a boulder-strewn valley.
Embark on an open-air vehicle journey and feel the rush of Africa. Mowani’s local guides share their intimate knowledge and respect for the land, built over a lifetime. Gain new insights into local traditions, geology, botany, and wildlife. The welcoming local villagers are eager to share their rich experiences with visitors.
For the more avid adventure seeker, Mowani Campsites are also available.
