Enjoy the diverse and ever-changing allure of the Namibian landscape during this self-drive camping safari.

Beginning in Windhoek, this safari takes you through the deserts of the Namib-Naukluft National Park, visiting the Sossusvlei area and onwards to the coastal town of Swakopmund.

Travel along the coast to visit the Cape Fur Seal breeding grounds at Cape Cross before heading inland, stopping at the majestic Petrified Forest and Rock Paintings in Damaraland.

Spend three days with Africa’s celebrated wildlife in Etosha National Park; Visit Waterberg Plateau Park on your return journey to Windhoek.

Windhoek - There are a variety of highlights that can be seen in Windhoek during a Namibian safari. One such highlight is the Alte Festung, or the ‘old fortress’.

Sossusvlei - The Sossusvlei Dunes are a massive highlight on your northern explorer safari, and can measure up to a massive 300m!

Swakopmund - Swakopmund has fascinating architectural buildings and fun activities that you can enjoy in and around the area!

Twyfelfontein - This historic area is rich with authentic bushmen sketches that took over 2000 years to create, making it an incredibly impressive rock art collection.

Etosha National Park - The Etosha National Park features several waterholes that provide some of the best game viewing opportunities.

Waterberg - The Waterberg Plateau Park is also a sanctuary to many endangered species such as black and white rhinos, buffalo, giraffe, leopard, cheetah, jackal and wild dogs.

Day 1: Windhoek

On arrival at Hosea Kutako International Airport (Windhoek International Airport), you will be met and transferred to your accommodation for the night. Your vehicle rental company will meet you either at the establishment or at the airport. The remainder of the day and evening is spent at leisure.

Day 2 & 3: Windhoek - Sossusvlei

Today you will make your way to the Namib Naukluft National Park, which contains what is considered to be the oldest desert in the world. The next morning you need to wake up early to visit the world’s highest sand dunes at Sossusvlei and Deadvlei. These dunes, which can reach heights of over 300 m, are absolutely spectacular and provide for a fantastic photo opportunity. With luck, there may even be water in the vlei (lake). You can also stop to view the Sesriem Canyon, which was carved millions of years ago by the Tsauchab River.

Day 4 & 5: Sossusvlei - Swakopmund

The day is spent driving through the Namib Naukluft National Park on your way to Swakopmund. The Namib-Naukluft Desert is an ancient land with an ageless spirit. It is home to some of the rarest plant and animal species in the world. Sightings of these unique fauna and flora are a must on a Namibian safari. The animals of this harsh landscape include the oryx, springbok and Hartmann’s Mountain Zebra. When arriving at the charming coastal town of Swakopmund in the afternoon, you will have the opportunity to partake in a few of the many optional activities and or spend the day and the next at leisure.
