Namutoni Resort & Campsite is steeped in history and situated on the eastern edge inside the Etosha National Park. Inspiring images of Beau Geste and the Foreign Legion, an old German fort (closed) overlooking the King Nehale waterhole takes centre stage.
Accommodation is provided in comfortable double rooms or bush chalets. Camping is also available.
The original fort was built out of wood before the turn of the 19th century. Burnt down in the aftermath of a battle between the Owambo warriors and their German colonial overlords; it was subsequently rebuilt in the form that one sees today.
One of the highlights for visitors is the sunset view over Fischer’s pan seen in the distance from the top of the watchtower.
Namutoni Campsite: All the campsites have a braai area, a tap and a power point. There are shared ablution blocks available.
