Stone Camp is situated along the banks of a dry riverbed, surrounded by tall trees and lush undergrowth, giving it a subtropical appearance year-round.
The camp is renowned for its diverse birdlife and occasional visits from smaller game like warthogs, while larger animals such as elephants are kept outside the camp by an electric fence. The name "Stone Camp" comes from the dolerite rocks used in the construction of its semi-open stone and thatch cottages.
Each of the twelve units is situated individually in the riverine forest, overlooking the dry riverbed. Linked by pathways surfaced with river sand and illuminated by paraffin lanterns at night, the camp operates without electricity.
Despite the privacy provided by thick vegetation, some units are close enough to be used as extended family accommodations. The cottages' internal structures are open to the external bush, offering visitors a truly unique bush experience.
