Solitaire Lodge is an excellent choice to split your journey between Sesriem, Sossusvlei and Swakopmund or Windhoek. It has an air of tranquility combined with comfort and affordability. The nostalgic general dealer and bakery offer home baked bread and apple pie, and of course, drinks, fuel and a small workshop for minor vehicle repairs.
25 spacious rooms wrap around a beautiful desert garden courtyard and swimming pool with thatched lapas. All rooms feature two double beds, En-suite bathroom with shower, and outdoor seating area. The two family rooms include two additional twin beds, sleeping up to 6 persons.
Rooms are fully air-conditioned and have free WiFi. Watch the sunset from the open-air bar and relax as this historic little village becomes a quiet, star-filled oasis after dark. Guests enjoy breakfast and dinner at Cafe van der Lee and can opt to relax by the pool or explore the area.
Thanks to Solitaire's location and wide open vistas, guests can either do a short hike on foot or on the back of a camel any time of the day or enjoy ice cold sundowners and snacks at our view point while the sun sets over the Namib.
Special Note: The distance to Sesriem is approximately 83 km. Travellers visiting Sossusvlei must depart early enough to enter the gate by sunrise in order to avoid disappointment.
